What is That Gosh Darn Hippie Show?

That Gosh Darn Hippie Show is, at its most basic description, a nostalgia show. We play music ranging from 1950-1991 currently of all various types of genres, cultures, and more. The show also features regular segments ranging from comedy to informational. However, we do one thing that most retro shows don't do; We also include skits, storylines, and regular characters! You not only get the rocking music of your favourite FM station, but also the excitement and fun of your favourite online podcast! The main characters of our show will go on adventures ranging from solving mysteries, to fighting robots, to cross-country road trips (and all under an hour, too!) If you're a newcomer to the show, and want a good idea of where to start, or just want to get a good idea of what the show is about, this is the page to help you!

This section is about the regular (and irregular) characters that appear on the show. In addition to our wide variety of music, we have a very colourful cast of unique personalities that bring a creative flare to your radio speakers. Let's get to know some of them now!

DJ Hippie

The host of the show (voiced by Kiki Willows). The "everyman" who is often trying her best to get through the show without any mishaps and trying to keep everything as orderly as possible. Sometimes their determination to continue the show despite any danger is a bit of a detriment to themself, but as they say in showbiz, "The Show Must Go On"! The most grounded of the group, she's also the leader, with other characters often referring to her as "boss" in a half-playful manner. When they decided to become a radio DJ, the amount of chaos they got themself into wasn't what they had in mind, but they still love what they're doing.

The Oracle Oracle

A "seer" (voiced by Frances Byrd) who tells fortunes on the radio through his rather.... unusual horoscopes every episode. A surfer dude at heart, he loves surfing big waves and listening to The Beach Boys (His personal hero is Brian Wilson). His horoscopes may seem a little confusing and strange at first, but with a little digging might have some deeper, actually helpful meaning. While he seems to be missing "book smarts", he always tries his best to do a good job, and has a big heart of gold.

A living video game character (Voiced by Bri Norton) from the (fictional) game Starshell, who has a segment about retro gaming that airs every other episode, alternating with Newsflash from the Past. Hyperactive and excitable, they just love sharing any gaming facts they have up their digital sleeve! Don't feed them sugar, though, as they're known to GLITCH out! They don't always think their actions through before doing, but not knowing what will happen is what makes life exciting, right?

Scoops & Professor Chronicle

The immortal reporter duo (Voiced by Steven Grimes and Jared Harrell respectively).... No, the literally immortal duo! As two men who have been around for centuries, who could ask for more accurate reporting than from someone who has been at basically every major event? And with the professor's ground-breaking invention, THE MEMORY-VIEWING MACHINE, their memories will always be recounted accurately! With Scoops as the curious reporter who wants to report the facts, and Chronicle as the man with so many Ph.Ds he can give information on just about any subject, they both report on important historical events as accurately as possible!

Other important characters

Mr. Tarot - Oracle's father. They don't get along very well as he feels that Oracle doesn't take his role "seriously" as a seer.
Cousin Clementine - Hippie's cousin who runs a local produce farm.
Jean - A punk rock lawyer who's also very rebellious. The girlfriend of one of the main characters.
Juris - Jean's doting father. Kind of clueless but he means well.
Del - The programmer behind Pixel's video game, Starshell.
Anthony - Pixel's adopted younger brother who has strange, supernatural powers.
